When it comes to diet and nutrition there are an endless amount of options out there, here is something I use when I want to make sure I have enough healthy carbs, protein and nutrition before a demanding day or training session where I know I won’t get to eat for a while. I often have it for breakfast.

Check out the images at the bottom for nutritional data.

There are loads of blenders on the market, I went for something basic from ASDA at £15!!

(2 servings)

Fill the bottle to about 400ml with water  or coconut water
3-5 tablespoons of plain porridge oats
1 tablespoon of honey (optional)
1 scoop of protein powder (optional)
1 teaspoon of Maca powder
1 teaspoon of Supergreen or Wheatgrass powder
1 teaspoon of Chia seeds
1 teaspoon of Flax seeds
1 level teaspoon of Cinnamon powder (Ceylon rather than Cassia)
1 teaspoon of Baobab extract powder
1 medium size banana
3 chopped dates
Golf ball sized beetroot
(if you don’t have any of the powders above, use spinach)

The Supergreen and Wheatgrass powders I found in Aldi for around £2.50, from the Funktional Foods range, but there are loads of others on the market. Nutrition need not be expensive, more expensive doesn’t always mean better! Try out the recipe above and experiment with your own ingredients.

Stay healthy!
